No more logging into 10.20.30... No more logging into 10.20.30... and double bandwith VoAS network was updated during the summer. New technology and solutions at the core network enable the use of the network without logging into the network. This also enables the users to start using the network without registering to as a user. The old method of connectiong to the Internet by logging in with username and password will stop working by the end of september. The new network has more capacity and the end-user bandwith was also doubled. Even 10 Megabit connections are available later on, we want to monitor the usage for a month or so to be sure that there will be no congestions during peak usage times. 10 Megabit connections will not be available in all the houses, the houses where it will be available will be specified later on. We would like to remind all users to use antivirus and firewall programs. Please be sure to also update your windows with the windows update function.   Saunalahti is upgrading the VOAS-network during next summer. Upgrading the speed involves changing some of the equipment in the network. This will result in short outages on the network. We will try to keep the outages to a minimum. Changes coming with the improvement - Faster connection - No more logging in to open the connection - Networks fault tolerance will improve Faster connections will mean doubling the bandwith for each user. We will prepare for this by upgrading the core network capacity considerably to ensure that the connections will not jam. No more logging into the network means easier opening of the connection, no time-outs and no registration to use the network. This helps to ease the use especially during the move in to the apartment, since the connection can be used immediately. Fault tolerance will be improved by new and improved network topology. All the routers and switches are already monitored but after this improvement, this will be easier and more automatic. we can also take action to small jams in the network. This should result in better usability of the network. We strive for bringing even faster connections available for additional cost. At least a section of the network will be networked with fiber-optics and in these areas, we will be able to provide even 10 Mbps connections by the end of the summer. The timetable in short, to be specified later: - In June the network will be modernized (some outages expected) - In July the 1/1 Mbps connections will be available to all users - In August the faster connections can be ordered in some parts, at least Palosaari Saunalahti Group Oyj   Internet Connection The Postiturva invoice you recieved is uncalled-for, you do not have to pay it. You will recieve a correction letter some time next week. Postiturva is an antivirus service that removes the virus even before you can download it, the software is running on our mailserver. The service was activated for free during a exceptionally bad virus-storm to tame the virus. The intention was good, no invoice was to be sent and a human error is to blame for the inconvenience. We are truly sorry for all the trouble this caused. We would still like to point out that the viruses are spreading on the net and you should use an up-to-date antivirus-software and a firewall on your computer.
