Moving in
Moving day
According to the finnish law the moving day is the first working day of the month. Practically this means that both moving in and out can take place the same day and time.
Keys
You can get the key to the apartment from the housing office the first working day when the lease begins; not in the weekends or holidays. You need to show your ID-card in order to get the key.
Tenancy agreement
When signing the contract you always have to show your ID-card and student card or some other certificate of studying. If you request to have the agreement before you move in we can send it by e-mail. Please contact asuntotoimisto@voas.fi.
Checking the apartment
Check your apartment immediately when you have moved in. The link for the check card will be sent by email on the day when your agreement starts. You can also fill in and return the apartment check card, or by e-mail/paper, note the faults and deficiencys. This way you can make sure that you won´t be responsible for possible damage caused by the previous tenant.
The previous tenant is responsible for the final cleaning. If the cleaning hasn´t been done or there are other serious deficiensys please contact the office immediately. Prepare for minor cleaning such as wiping the floor and counter tops.
When you move into a shared apartment there will probably already be another tenant and the apartment is his/hers home. Please remember to introduce yourself to your room mate! There will obviously be signs of living and stuff in the cupboards. Try to agree about practical things (such as cleaning and lending things), so that your living together would work as good as possible.
